Annual Father's Day Weekend Fishing Derby

Get ready to reel in the excitement at the 12th Annual Gary LaQuay Fishing Challenge on Saturday, June 21! Cast your line at 7:00 a.m. for a thrilling day of fishing on Tupper Lake, Simon Pond, and Raquette Pond, with the event wrapping up at 3:00 p.m. After the derby, join us at the Tupper Lake Sportsmens Club for the prize drawings.

    Fishing Derby Prizes and Payout

    Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 heaviest northern pike, as well as the top 3 heaviest bass. Prizes will be given out at 4:00 p.m. at the Tupper Lake Sportsmens Club Weigh Station (waterfront parking lot).

    Donation: 

    • High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care -- 40% of Total

    Northern Pike Payout: 

    • 1st Place Northern Pike (LBS) -- 15% of Total
    • 2nd Place Northern Pike (LBS) -- 10% of Total
    • 3rd Place Northern Pike (LBS) -- 5% of Total

    Large/Smallmouth Bass Payout: 

    • 1st Place Lg/Sm Mouth Bass (LBS) -- 15% of Total
    • 2nd Place Lg/Sm Mouth Bass (LBS) -- 10% of Total
    • 3rd Place Lg/Sm Mouth Bass (LBS) -- 5% of Total

    RAFFLE PRIZES from local businesses will be drawn at 4:00 p.m. from entry tickets purchased.

    A 50/50 Raffle will be available at the weigh station, tournament contacts, and derby volunteers.

    Fishing Derby Rules

    • Fishing begins at 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
    • LIVE fish may be weighed in at any time BY BOAT ONLY.
    • Hand Scales are used for weigh-ins.
    • The weigh station is located at the Tupper Lake Sportsmens Club waterfront.
    • No live bait.

    Registration Information

    Registration will be available online and in-person beginning in early spring 2025. Check back for details. 

    • Entry Fee: $30.00
    • Online registration is now closed
    • Register in person at Mountain Market & Redemption until 4 p.m. on Friday the 20th. (coming in mid-May)
