Tupper Arts Presents: Annoel Krider & Judy Scammell

July 23 – August 18, 2025
Open Daily 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Tupper Arts is excited to present a dynamic dual exhibition featuring the diverse and expressive works of Annoel Krider and Judy Scammell. Both artists draw deep inspiration from the natural world, yet each brings a unique perspective to their art, blending texture, form, and storytelling in ways that captivate and inspire.

Annoel Krider: Shapeshifters

After over thirty years as a tapestry weaver, Annoel Krider's creative journey evolved into a fascinating exploration of mixed media, combining stick sculptures, textured papers, fabrics, and acrylic paint. Shapeshifters represents the culmination of this transformation, where her love for tactile, textural art meets the free-flowing, spontaneous nature of painting. What began with the woven forms of her tapestries gradually gave way to a new way of expression—loose, vibrant paintings enriched with fabric, beads, yarn, and wire.

Annoel’s work is a fusion of the old and the new, the structured and the free. Each piece speaks to the complex evolution of her art and her exploration of both texture and form, creating a visual conversation between past practices and present discoveries. In this show, Shapeshifters, Annoel offers a window into her evolving creative process, inviting viewers to engage with the powerful connection between movement, material, and inner expression.

Judy Scammell

A true Adirondack native, Judy Scammell’s artwork is deeply rooted in the landscapes of her youth, enriched by her travels to Montana and Wyoming. Raised in the wilds of the Adirondacks, Judy’s work reflects her intimate relationship with the wilderness, wildlife, and the creatures that inhabit these magical landscapes. Her paintings bring to life animals, birds, and the mountain places she holds dear, capturing their spirit and character with remarkable empathy and insight.

Judy’s paintings are more than just depictions of the natural world; they are a reflection of her deep, spiritual connection to the creatures she paints. Inspired by the tales her grandmother read to her—Old Mother West Wind, Aesop's Fables, and Grimm's Fairy Tales—Judy’s animals possess a profound personality, evoking a sense of wonder and connection. Through her art, she creates a bridge between the viewer and the wild, allowing us to see the world through the eyes of the creatures who share it.

Join us for an unforgettable exhibition celebrating the wonders of nature, where texture and form come together to reveal new ways of seeing the world. Whether through Annoel’s vibrant, mixed-media canvases or Judy’s soul-stirring wildlife portraits, this show will leave you with a renewed appreciation for the wild places that shape our world.
