This is prime wilderness paddling right outside Tupper Lake, NY!

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 3 and Route 30 in the Village of Tupper Lake follow Route 3 toward Cranberry Lake. Continue to Sevey Corners and take a right onto Route 56. Continue for 2.6 miles to the trailhead on the right. 

Paddling

This route leads to the Raquette River. The Raquette River as a whole has some serious waterfalls, but this carry access brings you to a much mellower region of the river. You should have a good map of the river before paddling.

The carry is very mellow, but nearly a half mile in length. The carry could be driven if your vehicle fits the bill (not recommended).

Heading upstream will bring you to several waterfalls and downstream will bring you to a couple smaller ones, for which you may choose to carry around. Eventually you come to Carry Falls Reservoir's South end. 

Camping

There's an accessible campsite located near Jamestown Falls. A hand launch is a short walk down the trail, located just below the scenic falls.

The campsite includes a designated ADA parking site in the trailhead parking lot, camping pad, fire ring, privy, and hand launch.
