Lampsons Falls

County Route 27, Cranberry Lake

This is part of the Cranberry Lake Waterfall Tour and Lampson Falls is the final waterfall along the tour and the most dramatic.

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 3 and Route 30 in the Village of Tupper Lake follow Route 3 toward Cranberry Lake. Follow Route 3 for 27 miles through Cranberry Lake to Tooley Pond Road. Turn down Tooley Pond Road and continue for 17 miles to the end of Tooley Pond Road. Take a right onto County Route 27 and follow for 4.25 miles to the trailhead on the left. This is a major state trailhead, easy to locate.

Hiking

From the trailhead you will hike along a woods road that only slightly climbs to a higher elevation. You will quickly come to a point where a foot trail heads left and the woods road heads into the woods. Don’t follow the woods road, follow the trail. This trail will drop you slightly to the top of the falls, where it can be very slippery if you leave the trail. A path will bring you along the edge to a lower area and then around to a rock ledge well below the falls with the best view of the day.
