Events Forecast for February: ICE!
As the calendar flips from January to February, Tupper Lake is prepped and ready for a month of icy events. We've got a bit of everything and most of it happens right on the ice! This month's dock-et includes car races, golf tournaments, fast action hockey tournaments, and legendary ice fishing tournaments. And, let’s not forget the much anticipated Fire & Ice Festival, which will top things off. It is going to be a great month, so make sure to come check out some of these events highlighting the best an Adirondack winter has to offer.
Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club Ice Races
JANUARY 31 - FEBRUARY 1, 2015 - February’s events race right out of the starting gate as the AMEC rolls into town. Join us on the weekend of January 31 - February 1 for these annual ice races on Raquette Pond. Six classes of cars will compete from 12:00pm until about 3:30pm each day. If you are looking for a high-speed event this winter, these races are a sight to see. Plenty of parking is available in the Tupper Lake Municipal Park, which sits adjacent to the race track.
Empire State Winter Games
FEBRUARY 6-8, 2015 - For the second time around, Tupper Lake will help host the Empire State Winter Games at the Tupper Lake Memorial Civic Center. From February 6-8, spectators can take advantage of three days of jam-packed hockey action as both the women & girl's teams from around the state face off for some intense competition. Admission to the games is free and open to the public.
The Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby
FEBRUARY 7, 2015 - On the 7th of February, anglers from around the northeast and beyond will congregate on Simon Pond in Tupper Lake for the annual Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby. This highly contested northern pike contests attracts a big crowd to compete for big prizes. Whether you are a fishermen (or woman), or you are simply looking to come witness for yourself one of the biggest fishing tournaments in the state, this catch-and-release tournament is an absolute must!
The Fire & Ice Festival
FEBRUARY 21-22, 2015 - The lineup for this new festival is so good that even the Abominable Snowman has already made his reservations to stay the weekend. New in 2015, Tupper Lake welcomes the first annual Fire & Ice Festival. This event is designed to showcase the best that winter in the Adirondacks has to offer, and it truly has something for everyone. Some of the highlights include: the 5th Annual Fire & Ice Golf Tournament, dogsled rides, Clydesdale sleigh rides, fire dancers, live music, snowman building contest, snowmobile poker run, skiing with the stars, fireworks and much more. Make sure to check out the complete schedule of events, and then plan on staying for the weekend, because you won't want to miss a single activity of this awesome winter festival.
Fire & Ice Golf Tournament
The Lumberjack Scramble
FEBRUARY 28, 2015 - As February winds down, the events do not... they simply just return back to the snow! On Saturday, February 28, the annual Lumberjack Scramble will once again return to Tupper Lake's Groomed Cross Country Ski Center. Four different racing classes make up this fun and competitive Nordic ski race. Participants can choose from the "lollipop race" which is designed for the younger racers or they can challenge themselves to the 3k, 5k or 10k race. Each of the race courses will take you along the scenic and meticulously-maintained trails of this town and volunteer maintained Ski Center.

With so much frozen activities happening this February in Tupper Lake, there is no excuse to end up with cabin fever! Simply plan a trip to Tupper Lake and join in the festivities. After a day of activities you will want to warm up with a good hot meal and then retreat back to a cozy warm room.
