Don't throw in the towel!
As we come down from the high of February’s fun festivals, some might think that events are all wrapped up for the winter season. Slow down! It’s not time to pack up the winter gear quite yet. Winter is still at its peak and there are lots of fun cold weather events on the calendar as we transition into spring. In fact, some of the sweetest events are actually scheduled in the month of March. Really, check it out... then ask yourself: "Can it get much better than skiing, maple, and beer?"
March's Top 3...
1. The Brew-Ski (March 7, 2015)
Kick March off by following the beer trail. This isn't, however, your traditional beer trail where you are driving from brewery to brewery. This is an event where the breweries actually come to you... well, sort of. Six local craft brewers will be setting up tasting stations along one of the meticulously groomed trails at the Tupper Lake Cross Country Ski Center. At this unique beer fest, participants will be able to cross-country ski or snowshoe from station to station to taste the different brews on tap, talk with the brewers, and enjoy camaraderie of other beer lovers!
For the 2nd Annual Brew-Ski the micro-brewers on tap will be: Raquette River Brewing, Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, Adirondack Brewery, Blue Line Brewery, Great Adirondack Brewing Company, and St. Lawrence Brewing. Arthur's BBQ will also have their food truck on hand for you to enjoy some tasty grub to go with your brew-ski! Event takes place from 1-4 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015.
Stick around after the Brew-Ski for the last Full Moon Ski & Bonfire at The Tupper Lake Cross Country Ski Center.
2. Big Tupper Salutes OUR Military (March 14, 2015)
Did you know Big Tupper Ski Area always offers free skiing to Active Military? Well, on Saturday, March 14, they will be extending this offer not only to Veterans, but to their immediate families as a way of saying, "thank you for your service." All active and retired military, along with their immediate family will receive a free lift ticket to ski and ride the slopes of Big Tupper. Additional festivities are also being planned, so be sure to keep an eye on the events calendar as the date gets closer.
3. March Maple Madness (Every Weekend in March)
Every weekend during the Month of March, The Wild Center will be celebrating all things maple as part of March Maple Madness! Join them for a tour of the sugar shack, try the maple quest, taste some maple treats at the cafe, and enjoy special programming celebrating the maple sugaring season. Trust me, for the "spun maple delight" alone, this is worth the trip!
On March 21, it's officially NYS Maple Weekend! Be sure to visit this weekend as the Wild Center ramps up the maple even more than usual with family activities, additional maple specials & tastings, as well as an opportunity to sample the Maple Porter brewed up by Raquette River Brewing using none other than the Tupper Tappers Pure Maple Syrup.
Plan a Sweet Weekend!
