Balsam Pond to Grass River Flow
Location:
Route 3, Cranberry Lake

The carry to Balsam Pond is very easy and flat, you can choose to paddle the pond or bypass it along the extended carry trail to Grass River Flow. The entire carry trail is roughly 0.2 miles and over easy terrain. Once on the Grass River head upstream to reach the flow, you could continue up to Massawepie Lake for an extended outing. 

How to get there

From the intersection of Route 3 and Route 30 in the Village of Tupper Lake follow Route 3 toward Cranberry Lake. Roughly 4.75 miles east of Cranberry Lake and locate the canoe carry on the left.  

Paddling

Type of launch: 0.1 mile carry to Balsam Pond, then 0.1 mile carry to Grass River Flow

Type of water: Balsam Pond is calm and flat, the Grass River at this location has a very gentle current that you will paddle against on the way in.
