Bog River & Bog River Falls - Upstream
Location:
Route 421, Piercefield

This section of the Bog River is very scenic, but you can only go upstream so far.

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 30 and Route 3 in Tupper Lake follow Route 30 toward Long Lake. Continue to the intersection with Route 421 on your right. Follow Route 421 for about 0.5 miles to the Bog River Falls site, parking is on the left after the stone bridge.

Paddling

The put in is to the back right of the parking area, it is noticed by a narrow path to a flat water area. Follow the gentle course of the river upstream through a wetland area and under an old bridge. Eventually the river narrows out and many small rapids will be in front of you. You will be able to go upstream for about 2-miles in total. On the paddle back out, be sure to take that left back to the put-in and not continue over the small rapids of Bog River Falls

Type of launch: Less than 50 feet, dirt

Type of water: River, no motorboats allowed, gentle currents above the falls
